This article focuses on the relationship between one of the largest port complexes in the world and the system of automobilities. We strategically employ moorings as a descriptive and analytical resource, suggesting methodological approaches for identifying, within the context of the Port of Santos, some of the multi-situated and multi-scalar connections upon which this system depends. How can the mobility regime be analytically grasped, and what tactics can be employed to identify the chokepoints and checkpoints that either restrict or enhance the involved flows? The article seeks to present the anchorage as a particularly useful device for research aimed at understanding both the political and systemic dimensions of mobilities, as well as the networks connecting the “local” and the “global”.
