The article presents a discussion about visual culture in order to explore different concepts of sexual freedom having as object two movies representing two different contexts: Bernardo Bertolucci’s film The Last Tango in Paris (1972), linked to a 1960s 1970s countercultural universe. In the 1980s, 9½ Weeks, by Adrian Lyne, outlines a type of sexual freedom related to the then rising neoliberal logic.
