(BRAZILIAN JOURNAL OF SOCIOLOGY) - 2023

 

Revista Brasileira de Sociologia – RBS is a four-monthly journal published by the Brazilian Society of Sociology, Brazil, that aims to disseminate and advance Brazilian sociological production, as well as promoting international exchange based on original and unpublished research in the areas of ​​Sociology and the Social Sciences on contemporary societies. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers written in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.

Revista Brasileira de Sociologia welcomes academic articles that present original theoretical reflections and results from empirical research on topics relevant to contemporary sociology.

RBS’ editorial project comprises four main sections: a thematic dossier, specific to each issue; a diversified section that covers scientific articles and theoretical-methodological updates; a section dedicated to the promotion of transnational dialogues in Sociology (Sociologies in Dialogue); and a section dedicated to reflections on the history, trends and perspectives of Sociology (Futuros Passados).

1 GENERAL INFORMATION

1.1 Purpose: This call invites professors and researchers in the fields of Sociology and/or Social Sciences to propose thematic dossiers for the May 2024 to January 2025 editions of the journal.

1.3 Target audience: RBS welcomes proposals submitted by professors and researchers who hold a doctoral degree, working in the areas of ​​Sociology and/or Social Sciences, nationally and internationally.

 

2 REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Content, proponents, presentation and organization of proposed dossiers

2.1.1 The proposal must contain:

  • Title of the dossier
  • Abstract of the dossier subject (contextualization and justification)
  • Names of the dossier organizers and the authors of proposed articles, including mini curriculum (5 lines max.) covering institutional affiliations and countries of residence, area of ​​activity and other information deemed relevant.
  • Abstracts of proposed articles (problem, objectives, hypotheses and expected results).
  • Synopsis of a call for articles on the proposed theme.

2.1.2 The dossiers shall consist of up to six (6) articles, including that of introduction prepared by the organizers.

2.1.3. Two (2) of the six articles that may compose the dossier must be selected by means of a public call, and submitted through RBS website, according to the synopsis included in the proposal.

2.1.4 Proponents will be responsible for pre-selecting, among articles submitted to the dossier through the public call, those that will be sent to double blind peer review.

2.1.5 The articles can be written in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English.

2.1.6 The selection of articles must consider criteria of regional, institutional and gender diversity.

2.1.7 Proposals must necessarily include at least one article by authors affiliated to institutions outside Brazil.

2.1.8 The first author of each article in the dossier must hold a doctoral degree.

2.1.9 Articles must be original and result from empirical research or theoretical and methodological debates.

2.1.10 The proposal and articles must present the following characteristics: originality, timeliness, sociological relevance, theoretical and empirical consistency and analytical depth.

2.1.11 Organizers of selected dossiers, in contact with RBS editors, will be responsible for sending the articles to reviewers and monitoring the evaluation process taking into account the journal’s policy of double-blind review. The journal secretariat will guide and support organizers in this process. Editorial decision following reviews will rest with the journal’s editors.

2.1.12 Both articles that are part of the proposals and those stemming from the public call must be submitted through RBS website (https://rbs.sbsociologia.com.br/index.php/rbs), according to the schedule informed by the journal’s secretariat to proponents, following announcement of selected proposals.

 

3 SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS

Proposals must be addressed to RBS’ e-mail <rbsociologia@sbsociologia.com.br>, with copies to rodrigo.bordignon@ufsc.br  according to the submission schedule.

The deadline for receiving proposals is December 30, 2023.

 

4 RECEPTION, ANALYSIS AND SELECTION

4.1 Up to three (3) proposals to be published between May 2024 and January 2025 will be selected by RBS’ editors.

 

5 ORDER OF PUBLICATION

5.1 The order of publication of selected proposals will be defined by the editors and, in case of non-acceptance of the established schedule by proponents, the proposal may be excluded from the selection.
